A Second Voice

The Trojans were made aware of our advances, and many of them were already flooding the streets in an attempt to stop us. However, the element of surprise was still on our side, and even as the soldiers began to line the streets they were tired, overworked, and sloppy. Some even forgot their weapons.
Plunging my blade into a leading general I pushed myself deeper into the kingdom now, entering behind the walls of their main fortress. My job was to find Helen and have her returned safely. While everyone else caused commotion outside it was my job to be stealthy and complete the mission. However, being unaware of this place I found myself at quite a disadvantage…
“There’s a secret door to your left after the next visible ageway.” I heard a voice say. It was that of a woman, deep, powerful, and sent a shiver up my spine just at the sound of her. “Take that, and it will lead straight to the princes chambers. The normal guards at that post have been distracted by your friends. Good job on that, by the way.” She said again.
My eyes narrowed and I quickly slashed my blade behind me and… there was no one there? My heart started to race and I froze, looking around me with a somewhat panicked breath, looking for the source of the voice.
“You won’t find me, Odysseia. Because I am not actually here.” The woman said again, though this time I realized the source of her voice was actually inside my head. “Now are you going to waste time looking for me or are you going to be smart and complete your mission?”
I hesitated, but then silently started to move forward, past the visible age to what seemed like a dead end, with only artwork and a vase hidden tucked behind a corner. I rolled my eyes, thinking I’m going crazy from being in that horse too long, I take a step backwards.
“Check behind the painting, Odysseia. That is where you will find it.” The voice said again. I hesitated, but took my blade to the side of the frame and softly began to push it off the wall, however the blade was on hinges, as it swung open leading to a new hidden ageway.
“How did you know…?” I finally whisper back, wondering if the voice could even hear me as I pushed my way into the age way, closing the painting behind me to try and cover my tracks in case any guards were to ambush me from the back.
“A good war strategist must always have an escape.” The voice said, a slight hint of cockiness to her tone. The voice didn’t echo in such a small hall, it must really be inside my head. I must be going crazy…
But very soon the sounds in my head were drowned out by the very real muffled sounds of Helen, just on the other side of what seemed like another painting covering the exit to the ageway.
“Oh FUCK~! Paris~! Oh my GAWD fuck me~! Fuck me~! FUCK~! ME~!”
“Catching your opponent with their pants down is also a very effective way to win a war.” The voice teased as the sounds of Helen only got louder the closer we got. “Paris was only given this opportunity because of Aphrodite. I am sure there will be plenty of opportunities to surprise your foe while they are indisposed.” The sound of her voice was teasing yet cocky once again.
I hesitated as I put my hand against the back of the painting, taking a deep breath as I looked up again, my confidence and determination running deep in my heart. “Thank you for your help…” There was a small pause, as I took everything in. “…Lady Athena.”
I could hear almost a small gasp from the back of my mind, as if the voice were surprised I had figured out her true identity. But I had no time for such things as I pushed my way into the main room, to find what lies for me on the other side.
