Chapter 4 by ewong ewong

What's next?

An unexpected development

Jane looked at the hammer sitting atop her neatly folded pile of clothing and sighed. Only those who are "worthy" could lift it. He had told her how when they had first met, he had been stripped of his power until he was worthy of them. That his time with her and her friends had taught him valuable lessons like never breaking midgardian beverage holders or being wary of midgardian personal transports. Though, most of all, he learned how his decisions affect even the most humble of the realms, and he was willing to sacrifice himself to protect them.

"If he is dense enough to leave his hammer on my clothes, it can't be too hard to be worthy, right? Even a robot can lift this thing..." Jane reasoned.

Thor had told her about Sokovia, and the battle against Ultron, Stark's misguided attempt at a global security system. He had his heart in the right place, but perhaps he needed to be reminded where his expertise lay. Evidently, coding wasn't his strong suit. He told her about the visions he saw, and how troubled it made him, but how his quest had been stalled by Odin sending him on several missions to keep peace in the other realms. She wasn't expecting him to be able to visit for quite a while. What she didn't know was that Yhor asked Odin (secretly Loki in disguise) for a respite, and was granted a short vacation on Earth.

"Okay, you're just gonna try once, and that's it. If Thor learns you tried and failed, he would probably laugh at the silly Midgardian who thought herself worthy of an Asgardian artifact." Jane said as she reached for it.

As Jane's hand hovered over the handle, the runes on the hammer changed, slightly altering the incantation Odin had enchanted it with, but since it was written in Asgardian, Jane was unable to detect or even read the changed text. It now read "Whoever holds this hammer, if THEY be worthy, shall possess the power of THOR"

Jane's hand grasped the handle, and was shocked as she was able to lift it! It felt like a five pound weight, just a tad lighter than what she would normally be able to carry for a long time. She turned the hammer in her hand, able to ire it from all sides.

"Wow." Was all she could say.

Then, an idea struck the towel-clad scientist. If she could lift it, maybe she should try striking one of Thor's poses in it, just to see how it feels. She then thrust the hammer aloft, thinking would look badass if she had his armor, and not her towel. In that moment, a lightning bolt came down from the heavens and struck the hammer, bathing the room in light, and destroying her roof. The blast shook Jane to her core, and her towel was blown off her body. In the same instant, Asgardian armor began to materialize on her naked body. Silky underclothes encased her body underneath a leather skirt and bodice. Asgardian metal armor adorned her arms, shoulders, breasts, skirt, and boots. Lastly, a helmet encased her head, and her hair became a brilliant blonde color similar to Thor's.

"Holy...." Jane said as she caught sight of herself in her mirror.

Jane looked at her new outfit and twirled around to take it all in, feeling quite amazing. She reached towards her pile of clothes to put them away, but a bolt of lightning shot from her palm, I incinerating them instantly.

"Ok, not good. Let's see if I can find the original owner. Perhaps he can give me a few tips. Not like this thing has a 's guide. Now, how does he launch himself?"

Jane held the leather strap at the bottom of the handle and began to spin it. It didn't take long for it to spin wildly, so she then threw her hand upward, and was pulled off the ground by the hammer. The hole in her roof from the lightning blast was ample enough to allow her to fly through, and she found it easy to guide the hammer where she needed it to go. She began to smile as she felt the weightlessness and the wind hurtling around her.

Meanwhile

In upstate New York, Thor was visiting his friends, the Avengers in their new facility where Steve Roger's was training the new recruits. He enjoyed talking to Vision, as his vernacular was very literal, it lacked any of the jokes Stark liked to tell, or the shop talk that Captain Rogers would try to find common ground with. The others seemed to be intimidated by him, so they didn't say much other than how they ired his muscles, hair, or his exploits, which was a great boon to his ego, but lacked the companionship he craved in the "workplace".

"So, what is your opinion of the midgardians? Any faults or flaws you find you need to eradicate?" Thor asked.

"If you mean to question if I have discovered any personality traits of my creator, Ultron, then no. If you ask if I find any of their behaviors... unusual, then yes, quite a few." Vision answered.

"I found many midgardian behaviors odd when I first came here. The fact you have to assemble and cook your meals yourself seemed not only foreign to me, it was as if you needed to purchase air and place it into a machine before breathing it."

"I see, well I have actually developed a curiosity about cooking, and have tried it a few times. All with varying levels of success. Miss Maximoff has been quite helpful."

"Oh, you mean the witch, as she calls herself? Over met witches, and...none are quite as pleasant as she is."

"Nor more beautiful."

"I suppose she's alright."

Then, like a lightning bolt shot through him, Thor felt a sensation not unlike when he witnessed Vision holding his hammer. For, as he peered out the window, he spied a figure in Asgardian armor and red Cape trailing behind a hammer that looked a lot like Mjolnir. Theres eyes widened at the spectacle, but then focused hard and held out his hand. Immediately, the figure was being pulled towards him, as Mjolnir was being summoned. The hammer, and its involuntary enger broke through the window where she tumbled on the floor and let go of the hammer.

"Who are you, and why do you have Mjolnir? Speak or prepare to battle, thief!" Thor spoke as his hammer returned to his hand.

Jane slowly stood and looked her boyfriend in the eye. She realized that not only did her hair change, but it had altered her physique as well. She now stood at his height, and she looked down and saw her arms were large and toned. There was no way he would recognize her, even if she took off her helmet.

"First, how do I remove this armor?" She asked, hearing a more sultry voice escape her lips.

"You knew this was mine, but you are deemed worthy. By Odin, you have the right to the power you now possess. If you wish to remove those vestments to reveal your true identity, simply think of what you wore before." Thor explained, not wavering in his defensive stance.

Jane closed her eyes, ing she had been wearing a towel, but unsure if she was naked. There was a flash of light, and Thor was shocked to see his girlfriend standing before him. Moreover, she was completely naked!

"Jane?"
